Lunch Date with Mom at Paradise Dynasty

It's been a while since I last posted something here on the blog. Please forgive me as I enjoyed the holiday way too much. Hope you all did too! Until now, I'm actually still recovering from jet lag 'cause of my recent Eurotrip with my family. (Shared some photos on my Instagram @rheacamillechong!) Anyway, opening 2017 is a delicious post for foodies! Late last year, I realized my bonding time with my mom has been limited to office work, car conversations, morning and night routine. So when I got an invite to the Press Preview of Paradise Dynasty, I decided to bring my mom as my date to the event. Located in S Maison Conrad, Paradise Dynasty is a newly opened casual dining concept by Paradise Group that dishes up an affordable selection of northern and southern Chinese cuisine at seven restaurants in Singapore, with overseas presence in Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan

Pushing the envelope on culinary creativity and innovation in Chinese cuisine, Paradise Dynasty is proud to present eight first-of-its-kind types of xiao long bao (小笼包). I tell you, this isn't your typical run-of-the-mill varieties as these inventive flavours were created to perfection after a series of taste testing by renowned chefs. My mom and I enjoyed the eight tantalizing colourful flavours in a specialty sampling basket (8 pieces). If you wish to indulge in just one type of xiao long bao, single flavour baskets are available too. (Prices vary according to flavour.)

Special Dynasty Xiao Long Bao, Php 388
1. Original - Traditional xiao long bao featuring fresh pork filling in a sweet soup broth. (Still my personal fave!)

2. Ginseng (Green) - Soothing herbal goodness of ginseng and pork soup dumpling

3. Foie Gras (Brown) - A touch of French luxury is married perfectly with this traditional Chinese delicacy 

4. Black Truffle (Black) - Luxurious treat of the unmistakable plush aroma and taste of black truffle 

5. Cheese (Yellow) - A novel combination that features the silkiness of cheese – a sure hit with all ages especially for cheese lovers (Love this one too!)

6. Crab Roe (Orange) - These morsels are infused with pork and delicate crab roe 

7. Garlic (Gray) - A simple twist on the traditional xiao long bao by just adding fragrant garlic

8. Szechuan (Red) - The subtle heat from a touch of chilli oil and peppercorns will spice up your palate

Aside from their world class xiao long bao, equally enticing are the traditional, yet modern selection of Shanghainese dim sum. We got to try the light and flaky radish pastry and pork dumplings with hot chili vinaigrette. The extensive menu also showcases a selection of appetizers that range from chilled assorted eggs loaf in Yang Zhou style to the classic drunken chicken.

Because the appetizers were like full meals to us already, we just ordered Shanghai Fried Rice and Stir-Fried Beef with Scallion for our main course. The portions are perfect for sharing with friends or family. My mom and I both loved the fried rice! It was so tasty and the rice was cooked perfectly. They sure know the secret to a good fried rice. :>

Of course as they say we always have to leave room for desserts. So we shared the delicious chilled mango pudding. Ahh it was so good!
